Oasis Outreach Uganda recently welcomed three volunteers from Australia, who helped us run a photography workshop at NewArk School in Entebbe.
Thanks to the generosity of friends, our volunteers brought donated cameras all the way to Uganda. Even better — the cameras will stay here with Oasis Outreach for future workshops! 🎉
The session wasn’t about tech talk or complicated settings — just a fun, playful introduction to digital photography. The kids lit up as they discovered new buttons, new ways of seeing, and new ways of expressing themselves. It was rewarding to watch them go from shy smiles to striking the pose of a “professional photographer” once they got behind the lens.
For many, it was their very first time holding a camera. Who knows? Maybe one of these young photographers will be inspired to explore journalism, art, or storytelling in the future.
Of course, it wasn’t only about cameras. We also donated school uniforms, helping brighten classrooms in more ways than one.
This is just the beginning — we plan to run more photography workshops soon. For us, it’s as much about inspiration, play, and wellbeing as it is about education. Because kids learn best when they’re having fun — and playing with cameras is definitely fun!
